PMP requires documented project hours before you can sit the exam, so check your eligibility before booking anything. People find this out late and it is a frustrating way to lose a training budget.
CAPM has no experience requirement, which makes it the honest starting point if you are moving into project work rather than already doing it.
The PMP class covers the 35 contact hours PMI requires. The exam itself is separate, and most people take four to six weeks afterward to prepare properly.
